Trip-nós (where two sessions collide) is a minute long dance film mixing sean-nós and contemporary dance with electronic and traditional Irish music.

The idea originated at Electric Picnic last year as a live show mixing sean-nós dance and trad music with a track entitled Inspector Norse by the acclaimed Norwegian DJ Todd Terje and was subsequently commissioned as part of Dance Ireland’s MINUTES IN MOTION series.

Directed by Patrick Timmons Ward and shot by Gavin FitzGerald, the film presents a cast of talented dancers and musicians based in Dublin and centers around an electronic track, composed by Galway-based DJ Dáithí ó Drónaí.

Trip-nós is all about letting go of inhibitions, enjoying dance, and merging styles you would never have imagined going together! The film has an 80’s feel and definitely needs to be taken with a pinch of salt! Enjoy!
