This year has been very eventful so far, to say the least! Just a few weeks ago I started my MA in Contemporary Dance Performance  in UL and there hasn’t been a dull moment since!

I’m coming to the course as both a traditional sean-nós and contemporary dancer and I’ve been faced with many interesting questions and challenges about my creative practice which I hope to have worked through by the end of the year when I hand in my final thesis!

Directed by renowned contemporary dance choreographer and performer, Mary Nunan, the course offers a refreshing look at dance performance today while also supporting creative development through journal writing, solo composition, choreography for camera, ensemble work etc.

So far I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to work with John Scott and Laura Macken on Scott’s reworked choreography, ‘Body Mosaic’ as well as working on my own solo work. Two weeks ago we rehearsed in the former Daghdha Dance space, which is now run by Dance Limerick. Here are some photos that were taken on the day which were used to Launch ‘Dance Limerick’ officially last night.

More updates on dance adventures in Limerick to come!
