And then there was ‘Trip Nós’..

I tried out a little experiment at Electric Picnic this weekend – sean-nós dancing mixed with techno. Hmmmm, it sounds funny at first but it worked (I swear)! I was lucky to have two great dancers with me – Emma O’Sullivan and Marion Ní Chonghaíle as well and two star musicians Ruth McKiernan and Cormac Murphy to make it all come together.

What we did was pop on the amazing track Inspector Norse by Todd Terje, Cormac and Ruth played over it and then myself and the girls taught simple steps by calling out numbers. Check out Terje’s toonage, seriously, this song will make you dance against your will!

First there was Sean-nós, then there was Hip-nós and then there was Trip-nós..
